Who we are

Living Design, owned by Wendy Holmes and based in Cape Town and Langebaan, is a small niche Architectural Design, Construction & Project Management Company, specializing in large-scale house renovations. Wendy’s passion lies in the transformation of houses from ordinary to spectacular, her main strength being her vision and ability to see potential in even the ugliest houses and to creatively convert them to suit her client’s needs. Wendy takes old ordinary houses and transforms them into beautiful homes, without losing the character of the house. The client’s needs and dreams are carefully listened to and with years of experience, she designs the changes to give them their dream home, often making changes they didn’t think possible. Taking full responsibility for the entire project means that she only project managers her preferred sub-contractors. She is also a very “Hands On” project manager thereby ensuring surprisingly short construction programs but at the same time controlling quality and cost.

Consultations

Wendy offers an hourly consultation service before purchasing. It is a very good idea, prior to purchasing a new house, to get someone in the check it out and give advice as to potential problems that may exist, as well as an indication of what renovations will cost should you want to renovate. Purchasing a new home is an emotional decision and often people do not notice problems that may cost a lot to fix.

However, she will take on only the Design & Planning jobs, taking the plans right through to Council approval. The construction and project management is a separate side of the business, so she does not have to be appointed to do the construction. However, she does not project manage other contractors.
